The World Inequality Lab (WIL) currently operates with an annual budget of about 1.2-1.3 million euros, mainly sourced from public research institutions, public organizations, and non-profit organizations.
Over the entire 2010-2025 period, our total resources (including faculty research time) can be broken down as follows:
- 34% of our ressources are provided by several grants from the European Research Council (ERC): one Advanced Research Grant, one Synergy Grant, and one grant from the European Commission Horizon 2020 programme
- 20% is financed by the Paris School of Economics (PSE) and its partner institutions (in particular the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales and the Ecole Normale Supérieure)
- 16% is provided by the universities, research centers and statistics offices hosting the WID Fellows
- 8% is provided by the Ford Foundation
- 5% is financed by Berkeley University
- 4% is provided by national research agencies ( French Agence Nationale pour la Recherche ANR, UKERC)
- 3% Stone Foundation
- 2% is financed by the Sloan Foundation
- 2% is financed by the United Nations Development Programme
- 2% is financed by the Hewlett Foundation
- 4% by other institutions including Guter Rat (Good Council)
